2024 Burrowes Scholars Honored
Top honors went to high-achieving students from the fifth, eighth, and eleventh grades at this year's Burrowes Scholars event.
The 2024 Burrowes Scholars
Each year, educators at Lampeter-Strasburg select top students in fifth, eighth, and eleventh grades to proclaim as Burrowes Scholars. This year’s group of 50 scholars includes three gold (third-time) winners and nine silver (second-time) winners. The District honored the 2024 Burrowes Scholars at a reception on Thursday, May 2, at Martin Meylin Middle School with parents, teachers, administrators, and board members. Three-time Burrowes Scholars Annaliese Sauve, Emory Fluhr, and Truman Horst, served as the evening's emcees, and the LSHS Blue Jazz Band provided entertainment.
The Burrowes Scholars program is named after Dr. Thomas Henry Burrowes, a Strasburg native and esteemed education advocate who played a key role in passing laws important to the nation’s public school system. Dr. Burrowes additionally served as the president of the Pennsylvania State University. The students selected as Burrowes Scholars each year exemplify traits consistent with those of Dr. Burrowes. They are self-motivated, diligent individuals who challenge themselves to excel and be leaders inside and outside of their classroom. Congratulations to all of the 2024 Burrowes Scholars!
