This year, we welcomed Brandon Heuyard as an assistant principal at L-S High School. Mr. Heuyard came to L-S from the School District of Lancaster, where he last served as an elementary school assistant principal. Before moving to administration, he taught English and social studies for 15 years on the McCaskey campus and was the summer school coordinator. He holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, a PK-12 principal’s certification, and a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University.

Mr. Heuyard has jumped right into his duties at the high school. "I am looking forward to serving the students and families of the L-S community and working together to continue our mission of helping students reach their goals for the future," he said.

We asked Mr. Heuyard to share some details about his life, interests, and prior connection to L-S. Here's what he had to say:

"I have lived in Lancaster County my entire life, growing up and living for many years in Lititz. I currently live in Lancaster. Currently, my children are grown and living their adult lives doing the things they enjoy. I have a dog and a few cats that provide daily reminders and reasons for me to clean my house. My dog loves car rides and will often go places with me, but sometimes she goes places without me. I believe she may have a better social life than most dogs."

"My girlfriend and I like to travel whenever our time and schedules permit. We recently returned from a trip to Puerto Rico. We also enjoy checking out local things happening in the county and, even more recently, began taking in L-S events such as Pioneer Pride night. Chances are you will see us at football games and other events this coming year!"

"I worked at the Willow Street Fire Company as a Paramedic for a number of years and am very familiar with the local area. While so much has changed over the years (I miss Darrenkamps and breakfast at Willow Valley), the sense of community and connection remains the same. Individuals that I graduated from high school with (many, many years ago) also work at the district, along with many former colleagues from the School District of Lancaster who have joined the LS Family as staff members and those who also live within the district. My connections to the L-S community run deep."

Welcome to L-S!
