Two sophomores, a senior, and a freshman have been recognized by L-S High School teachers as the October 2025 Students of the Month.

Pioneer Superlatives

The Pioneer Superlative Award is presented to a student who exceeds expectations by seeking and utilizing feedback resulting from participation in learning activities and experiences to realize and maximize growth potential in all areas of school and community. Through persistence, determination, and motivation, this individual has improved and maintained success in one or more of the following areas: academics, attendance, behavior, and school/community involvement for the benefit and betterment of self and the L-S school community.

Merin Kauffman - Merin is a senior and the daughter of Matthew and Meredith Kauffman of Lancaster, nominated for exceptional character, work ethic, and performance in class. A member of both the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, Merin is also involved in stage crew, set construction, Environmental Club, Art Club, and High School Heroes. She is a three-season athlete participating in cross country, winter track, and track and field. Beyond her own participation, she gives back as a tutor and a volunteer at cross country clinics. Merin has been recognized as a Distinguished Honor Roll student, an LL League All-Star and Academic All-Star, a LCYA Young Artist and Scholastic award winner, and a three-time Burrowes Scholar. In her free time, she enjoys photography, creating art, hiking, reading, running, and rollerblading. She plans to pursue a career that incorporates her artistic passions.

Connor Allison - Connor is a freshman and the son of Todd and Amanda Allison of Strasburg, nominated for consistently displaying dedication, responsibility, and a love of learning. Connor is a member of the LSHS marching band, concert band, and the Fellowship of Christian Students. He is also an active member of Ignited Student Ministries through Strasburg Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a volunteer and mission trip participant. A regular on the honor roll, Connor is a two-time Burrowes Scholar and was honored with the George W. Myers Leadership Award at the end of eighth grade. Outside of school and church, he enjoys camping, amusement parks, and spending time with his family. While currently undecided on his future plans, Connor intends to take a wide variety of high school classes to help guide his career path.

Portrait of a Pioneer Award Winners

The Portrait of a Pioneer Award is presented to a student who exemplifies one or more of the essential skills that our High School staff believe all students should possess as a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg. These skills will help them succeed in any career path they might choose. These essential skills include: strong communication, collaboration, critical thinking, resilience, intrinsic motivation, and a strong work ethic. This award recognizes a student who not only meets these expectations - but lives them out, setting a powerful example for those in the L-S school community.

Liamh Motta - Liamh is a sophomore and the son of Fernando and Tara Motta of Lancaster, nominated as a thoughtful, caring student who remains focused and puts forth a strong effort in class. At school, Liamh is a member of the Art Club, Book Club, Scrubs Club, and the orchestra; an activity for which he was named Student of the Month in eighth grade. Outside of school, Liamh enjoys running, archery, playing the cello, listening to music, and creating ceramic art (including wheel throwing). He plans to pursue a career in medicine after graduation.

Elijah Weaver - Elijah is a sophomore and the son of Timothy and Rachel Weaver of Strasburg, nominated him for going the extra mile to help others and displaying maturity and integrity beyond his years. Elijah is a musician in the LSHS marching band, concert band, and orchestra, and a member of the bowling team.
